What is Spor

Spor is Vy’s common language for designing and building our digital services, whether it’s internal expert systems for managing delays and alternative transportation or vy.noEkstern lenke where our customers plan their journey and buy train or bus tickets. Spor is a design system that provides ready made components and building blocks, making sure we build holistic user journeys of high quality, across platforms and systems.

How designers use Spor

Our designers use a number of different library files when designing for Vy. Spor provides three of these files, the component library, the icon library and the illustration library. Colors, tokens, building blocks and components originates from these three essential libraries. In addition, our different teams will use these components to build designs and UI kits for each teams individual needs. The role of Spor is to provide the building blocks, not setting boundaries on what the final product looks like.

Is Spor required?

We encourage all teams to use Spor if possible. While it is allowed to build custom components and libraries besides Spor, the general rule is to use Spor as much as possible. This is to keep user experience consistent throughout services and systems and ensuring core functionality such as dark mode working. Spor also serves another more visual purpose. Using Spor components and tokens ensures a consistent brand experience, especially important when building services for our customers. Allthough, a consistent visual identity system is equally important for internal users, aiding in recognising Vy’s visual language both externally and internally.

A consistent experience is especially important when users go through a multi step flow where many different teams have been responsible for each aspect of the user flow. Recognising patterns is essential to providing a good user experience. But even so, creative and out of the box thinking is encouraged.

Contribute

Spor is open-source, and we encourage all designers and developers at Vy to contribute. Our GitHub repository is publicly accessible, making it easy to collaborate and improve our design system together.

If you are a designer with some frontend experience, you are also welcome to contribute on Github. Designers are also free to create branches in our Figma library files or commenting directly in the library file.
